Larry Grogan - Allocation and Diversification

Larry Grogan, president of Grogan Financial Services, was a presenter today at a lunchtime forum at work. He covered basic information on why and when to invest and described some of the uses of 401K and Roth and non-Roth IRAs and 529 plans. One interesting tool he employs allows the user to input a portfolio of mutual funds and then to see where they had common investments and the magnitude of these. So it is possible to have a variety of mutual funds but not really be diversified if they are investing in the same basic stocks. He used the tool to look at the domestic stock, S&SP accounts.

One of his websites is http://www.efs529.com/asmefinancial/

He does offer free portfolio analysis, and generally makes his living as an advisor about investing, not as a seller of securities.
